The TMP STEM program is starting off with new and exciting opportunities for students.  With the new microscopy lab we are providing all students a closer look at the world around us.  We now have a scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscope, and a scanning tunnel microscope.  Students interested in using these microscopes outside of class can sign up for lab time with Scott Voorhies via email or in person.

9-10-12  Teams this week looked at the scale of objects from the size of the universe to the nucleus of an atom.  To put it in perspective we measured the size of a student's hair.

What is the diameter of a human hair?   The measurement on the picture below reads 66.1 um.

How big is a human hair?
Can you identify the image to the right?  For answers, more images, and to make some of your own, book some  microscope time in the TMP Microscopy lab!
